other recent work!

 "Red with Rage"
Watercolour on thick paper.

 "Self"
A very awful oil and charcoal self portrait - with no makeup- surrounded by dying freesia's.
Oil & Charcoal on cardboard.

"Feeling Blue"
Mixed media on cardboard.
Including water colour, charcoal, and even...nail varnish.

Recent works & updates!

So, I'm pretty stressed, and my hair's falling out by the handful, not sure if this is due to my tablets or stress, or both, anyway- feeling absolutely terrible and am snowed up to my eyeballs with both Studio Practice work and Understanding & Researching Contemporary Art! research, presentation and essay- all due in the next few weeks. It's my PP presentation rehearsal tomorrow- SHITTING IT. I hate talking to alot of people, especially so indepth and for ten whole minutes. God.

So, firstly I've been adding bits and bobs to my personality piece of my little sister. It's full of bold colours (shes a very.. colourful character to say the least!) There's a big mass of red- as she has a firey temper- she's surrounded by flowers and alot of floral subject as she is known for wearing flowers in her hair and she also wears alot of floral clothing. I've done her portrait in black and white to contrast with the bold colours- and have added small pieces of her jewelry and such, along with a reference to "Little Bear" as we've always called her little bear/bearcub since she was little and she used to be small and chunky like a little bearcub, haha. But yes. Here's some progress shots- and where I am now. Hopefully there's a progression else i'm doing it wrong. All the painting is done with oils.

Practice makes perfect?

Although done before my previous post, These a just a few quick snaps of a 50 minute quick charcoal portrait. Unrelated to my project- was simply practicing my skills.

So....

Tough few weeks.
Hence no real posts of any kind.
So uni is, alright I guess.
Pretty tough, but just working hard at it as it's the only thing I've actually got.
Trying my best. So doing a few pieces based on personality and self image portraits.
So the ones posted are based on my little sister. Eventually the plain drawing will be surrounded by other smaller drawings of things that I associate her with, and things and colours which I feel best represent her personality.

This piece was done using charcoal.

Right hand side of her face drawing close up.
Left hand side of her face drawing close up.

Center of her face and eyes drawing close up.
A quick edit posted on my instagram.

My god.

My god. What a horrible few days.

I feel absolutely atrocious and can barely see any point in being around or even doing anything, yet somehow, i'm still plodding along- hysterically crying in public places in front of people i don't know, yet plodding along.

It's ironic that I'm about to start a project based on identity when I have absolutely no idea who I actually am anymore.

Anyway, not the monday gone, but the Monday before, my BA Fine Art class and me went to Liverpool to the Tate Gallery, in all honesty there wasn't a great deal there as two of the floors were closed for a revamp so we only had access to the constellations collection/exhibition that was on. Whilst i could appreciate alot of skill had gone into many of the works, I hated the majority and found it all ugly and distasteful, bar Elanor Antin's 'The blood of a poet' which whilst i thought was in no way linked to me, upon further research she just so happens to be the most connected, self portraying artist there, although she tends to work through film and photography. I just loved the morbid concept of taking the blood from each poet/artist/writer to demonstrate just how much of a person goes into creating art in any form.
